When it comes to cost of purchasing license, no doubt CorelDraw is the clear winner. CorelDraw offers monthly subscription at almost half the price of Adobe. When Adobe changed it's pricing policy introducing creative cloud monthly subscription, many fans of adobe were utterly disappointed. Creative cloud has become very expensive, many freelancers and agency avoid it for this reason. When you are a freelancer its very costly to pay this much money on software.
Since usage of Illustrator is more common, there are tons of resources and templates available for the normal user or complete beginner. CorelDraw is useful when it comes to end products like signs, engraving and cnc routing. While AI focuses on Raw design features and has more feature when it comes to designing for Web and print usage.
